Open hands (2002-2006)
A staff development project on respect for diversity and equity in day care centre, in collaboration with the city of Antwerp, running from 2002-2006.
During the first period (2002-2004) six pilot day care centres were selected. They had intensive staff development on parental collaboration and respect for (cultural) diversity. In a large study day in June 2004 there results were disseminated amongst a group of 550 practitioners from the city of Antwerp.
During the second period (2005-2006), day care centres had the opportunity to build links with the pilot centres to further disseminate ‘good practices’. Furthermore six new pilot centres were selected that will develop practice on inclusion of children with special needs in mainstream services.
