DECET stands for Diversity in Early Childhood Education and Training. It is a European network of teachers, professionals, researchers and policy makers. They are promoting and studying democratic childcare, while acknowledging the multiple (cultural and other) identities of children and families.
Currently DECET focuses on three 'work packs' with specific questions:
VBJK has taken the initiative of promoting the European EQUAL project ecce ama! childcare in learning networks. The project partners were: Kind en Gezin, de Landelijke Kinderopvang, VCOK, Stad Antwerpen, Koepel Buurt- en nabijheidsdiensten, Stad Brugge / OCMW Brugge, De Blauwe lelie/ DOG, and Stad Gent/Pedagogische Begeleidingsdienst Gent.
Grundtvig 2 is a project between European partners for training and supporting parents. Participants could exchange experiences, practice and methods. This helped creating a greater awareness of diversity in Europa and a better understanding of mutual interests.
Target group
A staff development project on respect for diversity and equity in day care centre, in collaboration with the city of Antwerp, running from 2002-2006.
